April 1, 1986 Russell
& Jerilyn Guiss, a devoted couple who are dedicated to the
beauty & growth of a person, decided to purchase an already
prosperous “Polly’s Style Shop” in beautiful Newport, Oregon and
called it “Jerilyn’s Hair Care Center”. Nine years prior to that
Jerilyn designed hair in that location. The salon was small, a 3
station - 1 shampoo bowl arena. She redecorated and recruited
others to come to her side. Locals & travelers alike soon
discovered the side street where they abided & noticed they kept
the light on for many hours of the day. Large portions of
quality service & friendly hospitality became the standard that
kept people wanting to visit them more.

In 1991, they
purchased a piece of land on Olive Street, at the West
End of the longest road in America, US Highway 20. They
gutted one of the oldest houses in Nye Beach that
overlooked the ocean. They transformed it into a hair
salon that felt very fuzzy & warm. They named it
“Jerilyn & Company Artist in Hair”.
In 1998, business had all the appearances of growth so
the Guisses were invited to open another salon in the JC
Market Center on US 101. The one thing they knew for
sure was it had to be different than the norm. So they
opened “At Your Leisure Salon & Spa”. At the time it was
the one & only hair salon on the Oregon Coast that
offered spa & tanning services. |

In 2001, they
closed the salon in Nye Beach & devoted all their energy
to the salon on 101 and renamed it “Jerilyn & Company
Salon & Spa.” The continued determination that fueled
the level of service that was lavished upon early guests
at Jerilyn’s was to remain.
In the spring
of 2006, the team at Jerilyn & Company came together for
2 days with the intention of writing an agreement that
unified our feelings about our passion for haircolor &
design. We named it “The United Code” (Body, Strength,
Constitution,) of our company.

Our agreement
became a living, breathing document inviting new life
into the salon and in a matter of time small change
transpired.
In 2007, the
Guisses made another business assessment. They
determined it would be a better idea to release the
massage & facial services to other businesses in the
area. Jerilyn made the decision to revive her commitment
to her passion, hair in its purist art form. She made
the statement it was her goal to be the “Best Darn Hair
Salon on the Oregon Coast”. The idea was to make the
salon a place for people to come in & have fun, relax,
get entertained & enjoy a little bit of life while they
were getting the hair on their head blessed with their
uniqueness in style.
The new headquarters was again renamed calling it
Jerilyn & Company Haircolor & Design. The menu now
includes manicures, pedicures, makeup & waxing services.
We feel that these services are the key ingredients
necessary to achieve a “Total Look.”
The menu,
service, and décor is designed to remind the guests of
the quality of Beauty represented in nature, a quality
that reminds a guest when life was more at ease. This
simplistic concept comes from a time when service &
quality were the cornerstones of business. The Guisses
feel great satisfaction in their work of 26 years. Their
ideal for growth & Beauty are still in tact.

In 2011,
Jerilyn decided it was time to re-evaluate the
United Code of Ethics. She declared it a year of
“Abundance”. As the law of growth would have it,
shifts were taking place in the personal lives of
the individuals that played their parts in service
at our salon. In the re-evaluating process of our
values, the team was challenged by the work it
brought to our table. Growth patterns, as well as
the needs of the individuals that worked in the same
space, were making balance a challenge & it was
difficult to stay in focus when communicating a
vision. It took courage on everyone’s part. The work
gave a whole new meaning behind what we were
collectively striving toward. You might say the
procedure broadened our horizons. Once the process
began there was no stopping the changes that were to
take place.

There is
Good News for you & for us! The goals of 2011 feel
complete. We are strong & are secured in who we are
as a team. Preparations are made for the New Year &
we are ready to serve you in a better greater way.
This year
stepped up & out to declare 2012 a year of
“Significance” for Jerilyn and Company Haircolor &
Design. At the beginning of 2011 Abundance was a
mystery to us. Like Abundance, Significance for now
is a mystery also. The way of significance allows
for everyone to find meaning in their work, faith in
themselves, confidence in the value of their life &
hope for the future.
We the people at Jerilyn and Company Haircolor &
Design have no words to express the joy we feel in
our hearts when we serve you. There is a new feeling
of wonder when you enter our door. You just have to
be here to know.
Jerilyn & Company Haircolor & Design started in
simple form. As their hair business continues to
grow, Russell & Jerilyn maintain the philosophy of
offering good products along with personalized
service. All of the service providers of Jerilyn &
Company Haircolor & Design strive to stay educated &
